Black College Search is a site that was pitched to Digital Mantis by Harlan Austin, a Twin Cities area businessman. He came up with the idea for Black College Search after noticing that there was a blaring lack of information about Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's) on the web.
Rather than dwell on this lack of information, Mr. Austin decided to take matters into his own hands and sanction a website containing valuable information for those interested in attending HBCU's.
Black College Search was designed from the ground up to be a resource for prospective college students, parents, and community members. The site contains a community message board, scholarship information, articles, and more.
Best yet, all of this information is FREE to the users! This was made possible because the site is funded through banner advertisements as well as text link ads.
Traffic is sent to Black College Search through organic search results. After a very well executed Search Engine Optimization campaign, Digital Mantis was able to successfully help Black College Search reach its traffic goals!
In November of 2005, Black College Search received nearly 20,000 visitors! The site also peaked at #1 on MSN search for several keyword terms, including the term Black Colleges.
